It's been 19 years since Spice Girls shot the iconic video for Stop in Stoneybatter
PEOPLE OF IRELAND, yesterday was an important day.
It was the 19th anniversary of the video for Stop. (Yes, it’s 19 years old and, yes, we find this fact as distressing as you do.)
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
The video was shot on Carnew Street in Stoneybatter in 1998 and features all the gals knocking on doors and mixing with locals.

According to The Mirror, locals on the street were £100 for the inconvenience of having their street sealed off. That same article includes reports of teenagers “nearly crying” and quotes one young man as saying that Geri was “sound”.
Honestly there needs to be some sort of blue plaque there.
Interestingly, Carnew Street has become a sort of destination for Spice Girls aficionados in recent years.
A quick look at the location tag on Instagram and you’ll find photos of fans recreating shots from the video…
Iconic.
